one school one book

It is time for the Matthew Turner Elementary One School One Book program! In-person students will receive their books and materials on Monday, April 19, 2021. Virtual students may pick up their materials and books from the bins outside the office beginning after lunch on Monday. Please watch for more information from your teachers and the PTA as we begin this month-long adventure!

Attention all MTE PTA members in good standing :

The 2021/2022 PTA Board Elections are coming up and will take place during our General Meeting on March 17th at 6pm via Zoom (link to be released closer to meeting date).

The following are the candidates running for positions :

President-Kate Munn

VP Fundraising- Kim Macenski

VP Membership- Gigi Villanueva

VP Programs- Tamara Small

Treasurer- Cayla Northrup

Outreach- Randy Villanueva

Historian- Kristina Behnam

Secretary- Nicole Newton

Communications- Jaclyn Prebula

Auditor- Bret Prebula

Additional candidates may run for any board position if they have been a current PTA member in good standing for 30 days prior to the election. They may nominate themselves from the floor at the election meeting during the allotted time.

Ballots will be available the night of the Election Meeting ONLY. Members who wish to vote must be in attendance at the election meeting. Only PTA members in good standing for at least 30 days prior to the meeting will receive a ballot and be eligible to vote. Members will check in using the chat box at the beginning of the meeting so that eligibility to vote can be verified. Once they are verified as a member in good standing from the membership list, they will receive a ballot. No proxy votes allowed.

Current candidates will be listed on the ballot. If another verified member(s) should nominate themselves to run for a position during the meeting, members will write their name in on the ballot under the appropriate board position they are running for.

Final reminder: applications for the 2021-22 PTA board are due today. The attached document has links to job descriptions, 3 application questions and the email address to submit your application.

Our PTA Board is looking for a new VP of Outreach! Below is a list of duties for this role:

California State PTA recognizes that representative involvement of a diversity of stakeholder groups of all backgrounds enriches PTA leadership activities in ways that more soundly promote the well-being of all children, youth, and their families.
As advocates for children, PTA is most effective when we:

Understand and embrace the uniqueness of all individuals.
Identify and break down barriers that impede children from learning, or families from their full involvement in their children’s education.
Create and work together on common goals that focus directly on the needs of the community.
Include in our active membership a representation of all stakeholders including families from the multitude of ethnic, cultural, religious, economic and social backgrounds residing in the community.

In evaluating whether or not PTA is as effective as it can be ask the following questions:

Are there underrepresented groups within the community that are missing from the PTA’s active membership and its leadership?
Is there enough representation from all groups to give the unit the understanding needed to be advocates for all children?
Does the way the public perceives PTA allow the association to attract a more diverse membership or lessen the ability to be heard as advocates for all children?

Our PTA Board is looking for a new VP of Programs! Below is a list of duties for this role:
Program Chairman

Works with committee and other chairmen to plan and organize programs for the school year
Collaborates with principal, PTA president, other committee chairmen and campus student groups to coordinate, plan and implement programs
Develops annual program calendar and presents it at PTA association meeting for adoption
Publicizes approved program calendar using newsletters, website, social networks and school handbook
Oversees and delegates volunteer recruitment for implementing and running programs

Electronic communications: email account names and passwords, web hosting information, domain name information, social media usernames, logins and passwords, webmaster contact information.
Calendar of events and contact information for PTA officers and chairmen.
Maintain PTA website, social media account and digital marquee.
Contribute to monthly school newsletter.
